Sprint Nextel Test Mobile WiMax

In collaboration with Samsung, Sprint Nextel will begin testing mobile WiMax technology over their exiting 2.5 GHz spectrum. This testing will occur in both the lab and the field. For more information, check out Jim Barthold's article in Telecommunications Online.

WiMax is seen as an emerging technology that will revolutionize wireless data transmission. There are several variants of this technology - fixed, portable, and mobile. Industry experts expect these variants to be standardized by late 2006 and early 2007. Wireless Washtenaw anticipates similar technology being incorporated into its network.
