Pilot Update - October
20/20 Communications continues to make preparations for the deployment of the three Wireless Washtenaw pilots. During the coming weeks 20/20 will complete their engineering study and begin installing broadcasting equipment on select public assets. Again, the following pilots will be deployed:
· The City of Ann Arbor: Wireless services will be deployed throughout a designated coverage area that is expected to encompass a few square blocks in the downtown area and serve a mix of residential and business clientele.
· The City of Saline: The pilot in the City of Saline is expected to cover the downtown area and extend east and west along Michigan Avenue. Service should be available in parts of Saline Township to the southwest and in parts of York and Pittsfield Townships to the east.
· Southwestern Washtenaw Council of Governments: Broadcasting equipment will be installed on the Village of Manchester water tower, which will allow signal penetration into the surrounding townships of Bridgewater, Freedom, Manchester and Sharon.
Wi-Fi 802.11b/g technology will be deployed in the City of Ann Arbor pilot, with Pre Wi-Max architecture used in the Saline and Southwestern Washtenaw Council of Government communities. For technical reasons, the three pilots will be brought online at various stages to ensure the delivery of a quality service. Additional information is available from 20/20 Communications at (734) 973-2020, Option #1.
